The ‘Furnace’ of Pentecost

‘Furnace‘

Only in the furnace-heat
of Love,
(God’s love for me)
can this hard heart begin
to soften, yield,
allow itself to be
upon the anvil of
His Will,
His dream of love,
for me.

‘Veni, Sancte Spiritus !’
‘Riga quod est aridum’
-moisten what is dry
‘Recte quod est devium’
-straighten what is crooked
‘Fove quod est frigidum’
-be fire beneath my freezing heart that I
may yield to you and welcome you.
Come, Spirit, and don’t delay!
